It took me a while to get to the bottom of this one. I will begin by describing my promo CD single (PR-2089-2):
1-(Edit) (listed 4:20; actual 4:25)
2-(Move To The Rhythm Mix) (listed 4:25; actual 4:22)
3-(Dance To The Rhythm Mix) (listed 6:50; actual 6:51)
My commercial 45 has a listed time of (4:20), but an actual time of (4:25), same as the listed/actual timings as Cut 1, the (Edit), of my promo CD single. Now to my promo 45: One side of it is simply the LP Version, with a listed time of (4:49) and an actual time of (4:48). But the other side of my promo 45 contains an error. It specifies on the label that it is the "Move To The Rhythm" Mix, but it is not. It IS, in fact, the same version as the commercial 45 and Cut 1 of my promo CD single, the (Edit). It has a listed time of (4:20), but an actual time of (4:25). Luckily, I was able to play Cut 2 of my promo CD single, to hear the ACTUAL "Move To The Rhythm" mix, and it starts with immediate percussion, whereas both the (Edit) and (LP Version) both fade in. Bottom line: the promo 45 DOES contains the commercial 45 version on it, although it says differently on the promo 45's label.

Great info, Jim, as always!
Can you tell me if the 4:25 "edit / single version" is simply an early fade, or does it have cuts within the LP version?

gene,
i just listened to the vinyl 45 versus the cd version from
'big generator' and the 45 edits off the the 0:22
intro.....and the rest of the song is the same....it
doesn't sound like you can use the cd/lp version as your
source for the edit as the vinyl 45 fades in the song while
the intro is blended into the beginning of the song....hope
this helps
