My promo CD single (CDP 40) has the following:
1-(7" Pop Mix) (listed 3:59; actual 4:00)
2-(7" Power Mix) (listed & actual 4:05)
3-(12" Remix) (listed 6:50; actual 6:44)
FYI, we played Cut 2 at our station in 1989.

I thought I'd add some supplemental info to Jim promo CD single notes... Commercial 45 copies of Animotion's "Room to Move" run 4:01. (Timing info courtesy of abagon. The printed record label time is 3:59.)

my commercial 45 issued as polydor 871418 states a run time on the label as 3:59 but actually runs 4:01 and is 0:02 longer than the 7" Pop Mix version from the promo cd single.....can the last 0:02 of the lp version be tacked on to the promo cd version to get the correct and proper 45 length?

Tough tryin' to watch the Masters and perform delicate musical surgery. LOL.
Here's what I did... at 4:26.745 or so of the LP version I snagged the part "...everybody needs Room To Move..." Dropped it about 30db or so and faded it out by 4:29.
I think that works to match the vinyl 45 as you can hear a slight bit of guitar at the very end before it completely is gone on the 45.

Hi guys, 2 questions on the above...
1. Is Track 1 from the promo CD (Pop Mix) an edit of the LP Version?
2. Is this version the same as the commercial 45, shortened fade on the
promo CD notwithstanding?
Thank you for your help!

OK, I was way off, and apparently unfamiliar with the actual 45 version. The 7" Power Mix sounds to be an edit of what became the 1989 'Animotion' album version (a Jeff Lorber remix). The 45 version (what I'm assuming for now to be the same as the "Pop Mix") is a much straighter/pop-forward production. My local station must have played the remix because hearing the 45 now is so foreign... I like it, though. Gotta track it down!
I wonder if the 'My Stepmother is an Alien' soundtrack album version is the Pop Mix. Its stated run time is much shorter than the 'Animotion' 1989 album version.

I have the My Stepmother Is An Alien soundtrack, and it appears that "Room To Move" is the same as the "Pop Mix", just around 10 seconds longer. The last bit of audio I hear is at 4:12 on the Soundtrack. I also listened to the promo CD single and my copy of the Animotion CD and I believe you're right that the "Power Mix" is an edit of the longer album version.

Thanks for the confirmation, Dan! I have two import CD singles that
contain a ‘7” Club Mix’ running 4:09 that I have always assumed to be
the same as the ‘7” Power Mix’ from the promo.
