For many years, I always thought the song "Mentirosa" by Mellow Man Ace was the LP version on the single. Now, I'm not so sure. I pulled out my 12" copy which has the "Radio Edit" as the lead track, and sure enough it's a remix with a slightly different beat. (The credits say it's remixed by Joe The Butcher and Tony G.)
Does anyone know if the cassingle or 7" has this same remix?
(The video uses the same remix as my 12" copy.)

I've never seen an American 45 of this title. There was definitely never a stock copy. It's possible that Capitol pressed it as a promo-only 7-inch in its "7PRO-" series, as I have a different Mellow Man Ace single in this series, but I've never seen "Mentirosa."
My promo CD single, Capitol DPRO-79130, contains two mixes of "Mentirosa" and five of "Welcome to My Groove." The lead track is the "Radio Edit" of "Mentirosa" (listed and plays 4:16) and it has in the notes "Remixed by Joe the Butcher and Tony G" as well as "Original version appears on the Compact Disc, Cassette and Album MELLOW MAN ACE." This is the version I heard on the radio when it was popular.
A copy of the cassingle that is for sale on a web site right now (Capitol 4JM-44533) says that "Mentirosa" is the "Radio Edit", and the B-side, "Welcome to My Groove," is "Hurley's Deep House Mix" (the seventh and final track on my promo CD single).

I just obtained the cassette single of Mentirosa and it is definitely a different mix than the LP version. The cassette single introduction sounds like a channel is missing and after listening to all of the cd's listed in the database, there is only 1 cd, "Decades Of Dance: The 90's" that has the cassette single version.

Nice job uncovering this one, gang! I only wish I hadn't passed up my chance to buy the Decades of Dance: The 90's CD years ago when it was still in print. Yeah, I know there are a few used copies floating around out there, but I'm generally not a fan of buying previously handled CDs unless they're in mint condition.
By the way, the single and album version info for "Mentirosa" still needs to be added to the database.

Now, if you were talking about vinyl, I'd be with you. As far as CDs go, I rarely ever buy anything new. While I try to find mint used copies, occasionally they have a couple light marks. I just can't justify spending $15 on a CD just because the plastic wrapper is missing. One of the beauties of CDs is that a couple light scratches or 100 passes over the laser doesn't diminish the sound quality!

When I buy my CDs factory sealed, I know I'll be the only person who'll ever handle the discs (and do so very carefully) and therefore I can count on them remaining in the same pristine condition 50 years later. In fact, over the years I've been able to sell some of my out-of-print CDs at a higher than normal price due to their outstanding cosmetic condition. Yes, I know CDs are pretty durable and a light scratch or a fingerprint doesn't affect the sound quality. But I've seen too many cases where CD scratches can and do affect playback. I once made the mistake many years ago of lending my CDs to friends only to have the discs returned badly scratched and, in a couple of cases, unplayable. I find that many people handle CDs with negligence. Therefore I generally don't trust used copies and that's why I'm happy to pay a few extra bucks for factory sealed. I've invested too much time and money on my compact disc collection to take a chance on having any of it last less than a lifetime. Yeah, I know I'm very quirky and particular and I've been ridiculed and laughed at for it, but I make no apologies for my desire to preserve in the best possible condition the music I enjoy.

Nothing wrong with being particular. Every one of us on this board is certainly picky! I'm very anal about my CDs, too, and if it's one I bought new, you can bet that it's in mint condition. I'm with you, Todd, on the loan policy. I don't loan them out to anyone for the very same reason.
I agree, too, that if I can't find a CD in "like new" or "near mint" condition, but I can find it new, then I'll certainly opt for new. On the other hand, I've found that there are many reputable online sellers who do an accurate job with grading their CDs. 99% of the time if a CD says "like new" it comes without any scratches and a much cheaper price tag. I've found lots of CDs for only a few bucks that look brand new. It certainly helps out my budget if I can go that route whenever possible. Also, one or two light scratches that don't affect play is not going to prompt me to find a better copy.

"Welcome To My Groove" was a massive hit in the clubs thanks to the amazing Silk mixes (the original unremixed version remains unreleased).
"Welcome To My Groove" received havey radio airplay as well, and many people are very familiar with this song. The single should've been listed as a double-A side single.
