My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (3:59), but an actual time of (3:54). The running times for the 13 current database CDs for this song run from (4:21) to (4:23), so an edit/fade appears to have been applied to create the "45 Version."

I didn't know "Handbags And Gladrags" was a Top-40 hit.

The song may not have reached the Billboard Top 40, but evidently it did well enough on the Cashbox Top 40 to warrant a database entry.

Thanks Todd, good point, I'll have to check my Cashbox chart book when I get home from work.

I'm not sure whether Pat uses it or not, but "Handbags and Gladrags" also made it to #38 on Record World's chart.

To JMD1961:

Are Record World's charts published in any book or online database?

Or do you happen to have some actual issues you are referencing?

Thanks for any info!

"Handbags And Gladrags" appeared on two Rod Stewart albums, "The Rod Stewart Album" released in late 1969(which I do not have) and "Sing It Again Rod" released in mid 1973. The version found on the "Sing It Again Rod" vinyl LP is the same as the 45 version running (3:54). I suspect the version found on "The Rod Stewart Album" is the longer version running (4:21) or so which would therefore include the :27 reprise that you do not hear on the 45 or the "Sing It Again Rod" album. So does anyone out there have the vinyl "The Rod Stewart Album" that can verify the running time of Handbags And Gladrags on "The Rod Stewart Album"?

I did just obtain the "Rod Stewart Album" and my suspicions are confirmed as the (4:21) version of "Handbags And Gladrags" is from the vinyl "Rod Stewart Album".
