My commercial 45 has a listed time of (4:28) and an actual time of (4:27). I only post this info because current database CDs which state "45 Version" for this song have run times ranging from (4:23) to (4:29).

I've heard some CDs that chop off the acapella ending ("everybody's got a little light under the sun"). I don't know if this was even on the single version, but I thought it might be noteworthy.

Aaron, the lyrical line that you cite does appear at the very end of the 45 version. After it is initially sung in its entirety, the ending of that line, "under the sun", is then repeated a total of 10 additional times on my 45, starting at full volume, and is then subsequently heard more and more softly, all the way through the fade, until silence at the (4:27) mark.

Good info, Jim. Perhaps some of those (4:23) versions cut off the acappella ending. I'm pretty sure my Thump compilation, Old School is missing the ending.

I believe the only versions that have the "tag" removed are the LP versions, as there was a pause between the fadeout & the "tag" on the LP.

The single has no such 'pause' as the "tag" is segued/crossfaded on the 45 version to overlap the music fade.

Andy, that's another good point. Also, after doing the math, I don't think the end part being removed could account for the six second time range anyhow.
