I wanted to start a new thread listing version and run time info for stand-alone digital singles, since these really are the new "45s." For the past few weeks, most of the songs in the top ten digital bestsellers have had a separate single available.
I've also been doing some sleuthing around the Net, trying to come up with info on digital singles no longer availble. Buy.com seems to have several for sale that are no longer available on other sites, and many that are no longer available are still listed, complete with version and run time info.
So I'll start off the thread with a few:
Eminem - Lose Yourself (2-track digital single)
1. Soundtrack Version (Explicit) 5:26
2. Soundtrack Version (Clean) 5:21
Fergie - London Bridge (Radio Edit (Oh Snap)) 3:28
Fergie - London Bridge (Explicit Version) 3:28
Rich Boy - Throw Some D's (Album Version (Explicit w/o Too Short)) 4:02
Rich Boy - Throw Some D's (Radio Edit (w/o Too Short))
Eminem - Just Lose It (2-track digital single; think it was two separate singles on iTunes)
1. Album Version (Edited) 4:08
2. Album Version (Explicit) 4:08
Eminem's "When I'm Gone" was a stand-alone single on iTunes. It's now deleted, but I'd bought it at the time, but now the strangest thing happened. I can't find it in my iTunes list, and finally found in a folder called "Unknown Album." Somehow iTunes converted it to an MP3, and now won't read the ID3 tags, so it's been relegated to this different folder.
It's the "Explicit Version" running 4:43, but it's labeled as "Track 2," so it may have been a two-track digital single with the clean version as track one.
Anyway, that's a start. There are many more to list.

Here's another one quick:
50 Cent - Candy Shop
1. Album Version (Edited) 3:32
2. Album Version (Explicit) 3:28
Strangely, though both tracks on the single are still available for download on Buy.com, you have to click on the individual tracks in a search. If you try to click on the album "Candy Shop," it says it's no longer available. Here's the link for track two:
Candy Shop (Track 2 - Album Version (Explicit)

I think you have a good idea here, Brian, so allow me to add a few more to the list. I've purchased the following stand-alone single downloads from the I-Tunes retail site. The actual run times are in bold print, while the run times listed on the I-Tunes site are in parenthesis.
Dave Matthews Band - American Baby
1) (non-described version) - 4:34 (4:35)
Weezer - Beverly Hills
1) (non-described version) - 3:19 (3:22)
Comment: The stand-alone digital single runs :04 longer than any of the song's CD appearances in the database.
Usher - Burn
1) Radio Mix - 4:15 (4:17)
Comment: I'm not sure if the Radio Mix differs from the Confessions CD/LP version which also runs 4:15. I don't have the latter, though I suppose I could download it for 99 cents to do an A/B comparison if need be.
Michelle Branch - Breathe
1) (non-described version) - 3:31 (3:32)
I will report info on more stand-alone single downloads later...
