The database specifies "U.K. mono mix" on the album "Crazy World of Arthur Brown." What is the difference between the British and U.S. mixes? I would assume the U.S. single was mono.

Brian,

The U.K. mono mix is drier, has less instrumentation (no horns), has some noise over the intro and ends different (with an electronic sound and a gong!). Would you like an MP3 to take a listen to it?

My (promo) copy is stereo. Dunno about the commercial single.

I assume your Atlantic promo 45 is stereo/mono, but is the stereo side speeded up as the mono side was for the US 45?

No, it's stereo A & B sides. "Rest Cure" on the B side. As far as being sped up, I don't know. This is the only copy of the song I have.

I don't know about the UK or other releases, but in the US, Atlantic speeded up the album version for the 45. I assume your promo 45 has both mono and stereo versions speeded up, but does anyone know?

Awesome, thank you! The reason I thought it was mono was because it seems like most stereo 45s back in the late '60s specified "stereo" on the label.

My US MP3 from "Ultimate 60s Colleciton" is 2:54 and sound stereo, with lots of instrumentation, while what I downloaded from Soulseek from someone, the UK single DOES sound mono and is 2:45..less instrumentation, so I go with davidclark's answer..:)
