Last week while out on my latest round of record-store travels, I picked up a U.S. CD containing this scarce top 40 hit by the Rolling Stones, which I see is missing from the 10th edition of Pat's book and the on-line database. It's actually the VERY FIRST pressing of the song's original parent album, 1982's "Still Life" (American Concert 1981). It's on Rolling Stones 39113 and was manufactured & distributed by Atlantic/WEA, which matches the original vinyl LP & cassette. In fact, this was the ONLY Rolling Stones album to ever come out on CD here in the U.S. through Atlantic/WEA, prior to the group's post-1971 catalog on their own label switching over to CBS in the Spring of '86, w/ the release of their then-new album, Dirty Work. "Going to a Go-Go" runs (3:21) on this pressing of the CD, circa 1983-84. (At this time, Pat shows only the three subsequent re-issues of Still Life in the database, starting w/ the 1986 version on Rolling Stones 40503, through CBS.) Of course, this being a very early CD, it states "MADE IN WEST GERMANY" on the disc itself, and the inserts state "Printed in West Germany" as well, but this was indeed pressed for the U.S. market. It's also one of the collectible "target" CDs, w/ detailed photos & documentation here: Original U.S. 'Still Life' CD from Atlantic/WEA Needless to say, this original pressing of the CD is quite rare, and about five years ago, was regularly fetching $100-$150 on eBay; today, it seems to have come down to the $50-$75 range (unless you get lucky, and find one on the cheap in a used record store, as I did)...
