My daughter (age 10) swears she's heard a version of this without the rap by Jay-Z.
Can anyone here confirm her assertion, and possibly point me in the right direction in obtaining it?

There are a few homemade edits sans Jay-Z floating around (most have a very short intro).
Your daughter is right; some radio chains have played a 'no Jay-Z version'. I'm not sure if any of these are Def Jam sanctioned.

Aaron might be able to chime in on this. I see reference online to something called the "Radio Disney Edit" of Umbrella, which supposedly has no rap.

Brian, you are correct. We are playing our own version, sent to us by Def Jam, that does not include the rap by Jay-Z. Where his rap would be, our version still contains the ad libs by Rihanna ("eh, eh, eh") that you hear in the background of the original version. It also changes the ending ad libs to "come here to me," whereas on the regular version I believe she sings "come into me."
Unfortunately, I don't think this version was ever released on CD or iTunes.

Aaron:
Do you have run time info for the "Radio Disney Edit"?

Any further information or direction in getting this is appreciated. I already know more than I did previously.

OK, the run time of the song in our automation system is (4:22). Please PM me for further info. :)
BTW, ironically, "Beautiful Girls" (Radio Disney Version) was recently released on a Nickelodeon compilation CD for iCarly. It is labeled on that disc as (Nickelodeon Mix), but I'm 99% sure it's the same version we're playing. For the record, Sean Kingston cut that version specifically for us, as we had requested him to change the lyrics so we could play it.

I just discovered in our music library that Def Jam sent us a CD-R that says "Umbrella (Rapless Mix)." This is the one that has the instrumental on the intro and cuts right to the first verse, so it appears the label did supply that alternate rapless edit you hear on CHR stations. (It does not start with just the drums. It begins with both the drums and instrumental music.) The run time is 3:49. It is not an official looking promo--just a burned disc with the title written on it in permanent marker.

While there is no notation in the database, my Promo Only has a shorter version of "Umbrella," running 4:15. TM's library labels this version as "Radio Edit." Perhaps the version listed as "faded early" in the database is actually the "Radio Edit"?

Just today, I obtained a US promo CD single for "Umbrella." It's an official Def Jam CD-R with two versions:
1. Radio (listed 3:46; actual 4:14)
2. Instrumental (listed 4:37; actual 4:36)
Does anyone know if this was released on a factory-pressed CD with a catalog number?

For the 2023 chart re-entry of this song, the database
currently states, "this song is available only as a
digital download". This is actually a re-entry of the
2007 version after Rihanna's performance at the Super Bowl.
The 'radio' version referenced above was the digital single
I purchased back in 2007 and which I see is still
available.
