both my commercial 45 and commercial cassingle contain the same version with a listed run time of 4:48 but runs 4:49 and is identical to the version on the cd below
(S) (4:49) Cutting/Mercury 834922 Sa-Fire
the promo 45 also has the same version on it (listed 4:48; actual 4:49)....kind of odd since the song is a little long and if they were going to issue a promo i would have thought they would have issued it with an edit...in addition...the 45 was issued originally with a picture sleeve, but i haven't secured one yet.....but i'm working on it....

Sa-Fire's "Thinking of You" was a favorite of mine during the spring of 1989, but I too have wondered if a shorter edit of this song was ever issued to radio for the reason Ed cited. Does an official shorter edit exist anywhere?

Todd and Ed, this song was huge at our station in the spring of 1989, as it was in many other markets across the country. But we never did receive in a promo CD single for it, and all of the promo 45s we got in for it look exactly like Ed's scan does - with just the one, rather "lengthy" version included. So, unless either a promo CD single or a 2nd promo 45 was, in fact, issued for it, in an edited form that we never received into the station (which I consider to be pretty unlikely, but you never know), my determination has always been that no official, legitimate, shorter promo version ever existed for "Thinking Of You". This obviously excludes any possible "in-house" edits, that individual stations may have decided to create on their own back in the day.

I think the database may contain an error, as it says the cassette single and DJ copies run (4:09).

1989 THINKING OF YOU (commercial copies of this vinyl 45 run (4:49), the cassette single runs (4:09); dj copies of this 45 run (4:09) )
this still hasn't been changed/updated....all versions run the same 4:49
