Have heard a dub of the dj edit for this song that actually runs 3:43. Is the 3:40 run time in the database label time, or actual run time?

The short version on my promo copy is listed as 3:40. I haven't actually timed it out.
It also lists 3:06 as a "possible fade out time", which corresponds to the false ending.

The actual time is (3:43).
Does the "PLAY LOUD" mean that you were supposed to run the VU meters far into the red zone, or was it an order given to the band to play extra loud in order to mask the typically noisy MCA pressing? ;)

John:
Love the scan! Thanks for the timing info. I used a remastered LP track from Napster that runs about :02 faster than the 45 for my DJ edit recreation.

Somehow, I miss the stock color of the 45 label on this one. Yet, the Play Loud and Possible Fade Out text would be lost in that green.
Here's a UK label scan I found online. With instructions to our friends across the ocean to also Play Loud!!

Who's this mysterious Bias Boshell who wrote this one?
Did Elton write this one under a phony name?
I agree with the comments concerning the lousy MCA pressings.
If they weren't noisy they were warped.

No bias toward Elton intended, but Here's a bio of Bias Boshell according to a Wikipedia entry.

I somehow, uh, deleted by accident my DJ 45 edit of this
song. Can anyone provide edit points so I can re-
recreate this edit? :)

Thanks to YouTube :), someone had posted a DJ 45 which
ran 3:41.
Basing the timing on a 2008 Remaster on Rhapsody of
the Kiki Dee Band album (which might run a little fast
since John (Yah Shure) says the DJ 45 runs 3:43:
Keep 00:00-2:23.402
Remove 2:23.402 to 3:11.034
Place a sinusoidal fade from 3:30.271 to 3:39.903
From that point, guess you would pitch down your file
to match John's running time of 3:43.
