My commercial 45, confirmed as Gordy 7025, has a listed time of (2:34), but an actual time of (2:37). Pat, I found your question to me about this song from an old e-mail, and it was "...Jim, the first 45 mix you say runs (2:45) but that is nowhere near the other running times in the database...". Based on my above timing findings, it appears that the "first 45 version" on my 1963 Complete Motown Singles Box runs :08 longer than my original commercial 45. So, we can now thankfully put the "CMS Timings Project" to bed, at least until Volume 11B: 1971, of course!

Ah but Jim, the Complete Motown Singles Collection lists two different pressings of this 45 and the second pressing runs (2:35) which is very close to the (2:37) timing that you come up with so is it possible that you really have the second pressing of this 45?

Pat, nice pickup. I will soon be shooting you out an mp3 dub of my original 45, so you can analyze/determine whether it is, in fact, the first or the second of the two versions included on that particular CMS volume.
