According to Jim, the actual and printed commercial 45 run time of Kenny Rogers and the First Edition's "Something's Burning" is 4:00. I post this info because all database CDs containing the hit version run shorter and have run times ranging from 3:46 to 3:57.

John, I just tried to find/order an actual CD for the same "late 60's lineup cover photo" for that Amazon download page you linked. But when I went to Amazon "Music", and found the exact same titled disc, it had an "80's Kenny photo" instead, even though "First Edition" is included in the group's title for the disc. I'm just uncomfortable enough with this difference to not order it, because the photo on your download matches the era's of the disc's tunes, and I know that one's got the 4:00 version, based on your report. If anyone can find an actual CD that matches John's picture, please pass it along, because I've been unable to so far.

Jim, I just picked up the "Anthology" cd being discussed here on the Master Classics label #1320. These are the original Kenny Rogers & The First Edition recordings. The confusion on the photos is easy to explain -- the cd itself has the old group photo but there is a slip cover that shows just Kenny Rogers. And yes "Something's Burning" does run (4:00).

Thanks for your quality investigative work for that CD, Pat. I can now order it with confidence!

Yes, thanks, Pat. It's good to see that one database CD contains the full 4:00 45 length. (Incidentally, the 45 run time info hasn't yet been incorporated into the database.)
Did "Something's Burning" ever appear on a parent Kenny Rogers vinyl LP? If so, does anyone have the song's LP run time info?
