Since promo CD info hasn't been provided for these two, I thought I'd post what I've found. I do not own these discs, so perhaps someone who does can fill us in on 1) the actual run times, and 2) if they recall hearing/playing any of the various versions on the air during their chart runs.

"Someday" CSK 73561
1. Album Version (4:06)
2. New 7" Jackswing (4:40)*
3. New 7" Straight (4:16)
4. New 12" House (6:50)

*It was stated in another thread that some cassette singles and some 7" vinyl singles contained this mix.

UPDATED: The following promo has been discovered to be fake. I'm leaving the details, though, so that the rest of the thread makes sense.

"Emotions" CSK 23752 (1 of 2 promos, the other being a 1-track album version)
1. Radio Edit (3:52)
2. C&C Radio Mix (4:23)
3. C&C Club Mix (5:51)
4. C&C Club No. 1 Mix (7:44)
5. C&C Dub Dub Mix (5:45)
6. C&C Instrumental (5:03)
7. Album Version (4:08)

Could someone provide more details on the "Radio Edit"
version of "Emotions"?

I asked our resident promo CD guru, Jim, if he had details about this promo, and his station never received a copy, nor was he aware that it existed. You can see the details, including cover scans, here and here.

I can't say for sure if the Radio Edit is an edit of the LP version or of one of the remixes. Looking at the scans in the second link, there is not an asterisk next to the Radio Edit or LP Version, whereas there is next to all of the remixes. This would lead me to believe that it's an edit of the LP version.

Missed this one completely.

I hope someone happens to have this version here! There is
an audio/"video" on youtube credited as "Emotions (Radio
Edit)" but it runs nearly 20 seconds shorter than the
listed time on this promo and may be a fake creation.

I sent the person on discogs a message to see if they could check the timing. Thanks for the tip on the YouTube video. I recreated that version, which has two edits. It cuts the repeated choruses in the middle of the song and toward the end. The edits are at 2:04 and 3:12, and each one cuts about 16.7 seconds.

Aaron, here are your requested actual run times from the "Someday" CSK 73561 promo CD single you've already detailed the printed times for back in this thread's opening post:

1-(listed & actual 4:06)
2-(listed 4:40; actual 4:39)
3-(listed 4:16; actual 4:17)
4-(listed & actual 6:50)

my commercial cassingle issued as columbia 73977 of "emotions" contains the below tracks

1-emotions
2-vanishing

neither the cassingle's cardboard sleeve or the the cassingle face states any version but the cassingle version is the same as the full length cd/lp version running 4:06

my commercial cassingle issued as columbia 73561 of "someday" is a little bit more complicated

the carboard sleeve states the below tracks
1-someday (new 7" jackswing)
2-alone in love (no description)

the cassingle itself says
1-someday (album version)
2-alone in love (no description)

i don't know if this is an oversight or maybe someone exchanged another sleeve/cassingle for mine.....and maybe there really is a "new 7" jackswing" version out there.....

but the version that is on my commercial cassingle is identical to the cd/lp version running 4:05

Ed:

In the "updates for database" thread a while back, Brian W. posted the following regarding the cassette single release of Mariah Carey's "Someday":

Pat, I just noticed the update to Mariah Carey's "Someday," how the cassette single used the LP version.

Yes and no. I personally owned (though I don't think I do any longer) two separate cassette singles of the song (one was purchased as part of a lot on Ebay). One had the LP Version, and the other used the 7" New Jackswing mix. Both were two-track cassettes with the same B-side and the EXACT same catalog number on the sleeve. I can't recall of the cassette shell itself indicated which version it was. But both were definitely US pressings.

I believe (though I'm not positive) that all 45s used the LP Version.

You should update the comment that some cassettes were mastered with the LP Version while others used the 7" New Jackswing Mix.

Cmmmbase also confirmed the following in the same thread:

I have 2 different stock 45s of Mariah Carey's "Someday"
One with the regular lp version, and one with the New Jack Swing Version. Both have the same B-side and same catalog number.

I'm confused on recreating the radio edit for
"Emotions." Can someone point me to exact edit points?

That entire second promo is likely a fake creation. I
don't think it was listed as suchwhen Aaron first posted
his info, but it is now listed on Discogs as a bootleg.
(See the Notes section.) It's entirely possible that this
3:52 Edit is a fan-made edit.

Brian,

Your link gave me a 404 error. Is this the CDr you
were
talking about? http://www.discogs.com/Mariah-Carey-
Emotions/release/998521.

Its labeled on Discogs as an unofficial release and I
can't find the 3:52 radio edit video on YouTube
either.

Considering this thread dates back to 2009, it's
possible Mariah's label had the video removed.

EDIT: For some reason, my post post doesn't link to
the URL properly.

The comments underneath indicate that the CDr and edit
are fan made. I'm guessing then that there was never a
'radio edit' for "Emotions."

Fixed the link. Chrome does not seem to work with this website very well.

I don't see any comments below the release about that particular edit being fan-made, but I've NEVER seen a CD-R that old before.

Yeah, I had to use Internet Explorer to fix the link. I've
had that problem with Chrome before. I don't see why
everyone thinks it's so great.

Good catch, guys! Yes, when I posted about that fake promo (over 5 years ago), it hadn't yet been pointed out that it was a fake. If you don't study it carefully, the scans make it look convincingly real. But yeah, now that I see the printing on the inner ring of the CD, it's definitely a CD-R, which were not being released by record labels in 1991.

To add to the thread, I have the one-track promo single
for "Emotions" (CSK 73977). No version or time listed
but it runs about 4:06, the same as the album version.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'd been looking for the edit of Emotions for quite some, after seeing it mentioned in the database. Looks like it's time to call off the search party!

Just curious to know if the album version or the "New 7" Jackswing" version of "Someday" was played on the radio?
