does anyone have the import uk remastered cd "a biography".........the web site states that it contains the uk single version of "i need a lover"..........is this version the same as the usa single version????????..........the run time of 3:40 would line up right with the usa 45 version.........edtop40

I don't have the US 45, but if the 45 is the same one he lipsynched on American Bandstand in early 1980 then the two edits are completely different. The version he performed on AB starts with the piano (and has at least other edit in the instrumental introduction), while the UK 45 joins the instrumental intro late then runs straight through with no edit once the song starts (in other words, just shave off the first (1:57) of the LP version and you essentially have the UK 45).

my commercial 45 issued as riva 202 states a run time of 3:40 but actually runs 3:44 and is an edit of the full length 5:35 cd/lp version.....this correct 45 run time s/b added to the db....aaron, thanks for the edit you did for me years ago....
