Is the commercial 45 mono? If so, any mix differences with the stereo versions on all domestic CDs.

The commercial 45 was mono. My promo is mono on both sides. Has a printed time of 3:06 and a run time of 3:07. There may have been a mono/stereo promo but I haven't seen one.
The Arizona LP does not have run times on it but the promotional copy does have a sticker on the front with run times, stating 3:09 and it runs 3:09.
Both versions fade out at the same point, but the single runs a little faster. The LP version also had a phase issue which made the song sound swishy when played in mono.
As far as any difference, while the mono version is probably a dedicated mono mix I can't hear any instruments or changes of significance on the mono version verses the stereo version.
All CDs that I'm aware of are in stereo and fixed the phase issue.

The accompanying booklet features photos from Lindsay’s archive and liner notes by Ed Osborne, with interviews with Lindsay, Jerry Fuller, Artie Butler and Tom Bahler, all of whom worked on the singles. Street date is February 28. |

This is great news and first time mono on Arizona and Silver Bird.

I hope the stereo 45 version of "And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" is on there. The LP version is a different take than the popular 45 version.

By the way, was the commercial 45 of Mark Lindsay's "Silver Bird" issued in mono or stereo? The 45 label states "stereo", but I know these descriptions are not always accurate.

According to the article it's "mono on the first five tracks." I assumed Silver Bird was one of those but that's just an assumption on my part.

The commercial 45 for Silver Bird was stereo, as was every promo copy I've been able to find so far. Maybe somebody else has a mono promo, but I've never seen Silver Bird in mono.

Same here, Bill; my promo copy has the stereo "Silver Bird" noted as the "suggested side." How quaint. :)
As long as Tom already brought it up, for the sake of completeness, my vinyl Santa Maria-pressed DJ reservice copy of "And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" is stereo/mono.

I have the CD, in my opinion they used way too much noise reduction on "Silver Bird". When the levels get low it's too destructive. The rest of the CD sounds fine.
