hey pat.......since you seem to have a sizable following of 45 enthusists, have you given any thought to petitioning some of the record labels to re-issue many of the 45 versions of songs that we'd like to have on cd......it seems that if there was enough of a push on such catalog re-issuers as rhino, priority, or varese to come out with a 45's collectors line or series, i believe it would be a huge hit......any thoughts........i've only been a recent member so excuse me if i seem to pushy or out of line.....

I have intermittent communication with some of the labels that really do care about 45 versions and the label that seems most open to listening is Eric Records. You can contact them directly through their website which is www.ericrecords.com.

ERIC has a resource other reissue labels don't have: a warehouse filled with brand new, original issue singles. ERIC also operates a mail-order business, selling these singles at collectors' prices. This mail-order business is called American Hits. Because of this other business, ERIC can track demand for songs that other labels fail to reissue.
It's always a pleasure putting ERIC's CD releases together, as we always have an original 45 for reference. My partner Mark Mathews and I often spend hours working on stereo masters to re-create what listeners heard on the radio or on their 45s. ERIC's the label that issued Lolita's "Sailor (Your Home is the Sea)" with the spoken portion matching the 45. ERIC also issued JoAnn Campbell's "A Kookie Little Paradise" in stereo with the Tarzan yells, as on the 45 (they weren't on the 2-track master). Readers here who are not familiar with my own web site should know that my motto is, "The 45 version of any charted hit record is never the wrong version!"
