Need some help on this one. There are definitely multiple promos for "Gossip Folks." The following are the promos that I own:
Elektra PRCD 1848-2
(All times are actual; no times are listed on the insert.)
1. Amended Version (3:56)
2. Album Version (3:56)
3. Instrumental (3:57)
4. A Cappella (3:57)
5. TV Track (3:56)
Elektra PRCD 1870-2
1. Fatboy Slim Radio Remix-Edited Version (3:30)
2. Fatboy Slim Remix-Edited Version (6:42)
3. Fatboy Slim Dub Mix 1 (7:03)
4. Fatboy Slim Dub Mix 2-Instrumental (7:04)
The station where I worked at the time, however, didn't play any of these versions. We received a CD-R from the label that had unique versions I haven't seen anywhere else. The first cut was similar to the "Amended Version" but it starts off with a spoken line by Missy that says, "This is a Missy and Ludacris exclusive."
Then, at the end of the song, there is some additional banter by Missy that says, "Yo, stop talkin' 'bout people's business, you frog face, smellin' like you been chewin' on toilet gum all day and washin' your face with a *** cloth. (laughs)" I have a dub of the track, and it runs 4:10.
The competing top 40 in our market did not play the version with this unique ending, and I've never seen that part appear on any other version of the song. Promo Only did issue a "Hyped Up Radio" version, which starts off with the "Missy and Ludacris exclusive" line, but it ends just like the Amended Version with no additional banter. This version runs 3:23, so apparently something else has been cut out of that edit. I believe this was also on that same promo CD-R that has the additional banter versions.
If anyone happens to have a different promo from the ones I posted above, please share your info when you have a minute.
