I just came across a new Sony Music cd with a (3:09) edit of Carrie by Europe. My dj 45 has the usual (4:29) version on both sides so does anyone have a source for this (3:09) edit?

I've only seen the one (4:29) version before this. Even
the 1987 promo sampler EPA With Our Compliments has
the (4:29) version.
I'd bet a shiny new nickel that the (3:09) edit is new.
It's certainly not from the 1987 era.

How does the mix compare with the original? Maybe someone grabbed a different take of the song by mistake?
I too have only seen the 4:29 promo. While CBS-distributed labels were notorious for multiple promo copies, you'd think by the late 80s that practice would have subsided.
