My U.S. commercial 45 of "Alley-Oop" by Hollywood Argyles (Lute 5905) states the run time as (2:36), but I timed it at (2:42).

I hadn't noticed before that the label states "Arr: Gary (Flip) Paxton". No mention is made that Paxton is also the artist on the record, since as Flip of Skip & Flip, he was already under contract to another label.

Curiously, the other hit version of "Alley-Oop", credited to Dante & The Evergreens on the Madison label, also has a 'mystery' vocalist. Although there was an actual Dante & The Evergreens who recorded for Madison (and who lip-synched "Alley-Oop" on American Bandstand ten days after the record's release), label co-owner Herb Alpert has stated that he himself is actually the vocalist on the record.
