Happened to see Donald Fagen (with Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs as part of the "Dukes of September" tour) in concert last night and he performed "Pretzel Logic" as one of the encores. Until today, I didn't realize that there actually was a single version of this song in 1974. Anyone know whether the 45 is extractable from the LP?

(Chances are pretty good that it's not--much of Steely Dan and Fagen's solo singles involve pitch differences and/or rearranging verses in addition to possible edits. But you never know.)

Sorry, I don't have an answer for your question, Doug, but I imagine you saw a great show!

Thanks to Chuck (and to John G. for replicating it), here's the scoop. The 45 is merely an early fade, but it's sped up.

To Doug:

The commercial 45 has the f-word in it?

The lyrics for the song on Steely Dan's website does not have the "f" word in it. Are you thinking of a different song? Perhaps "Show Biz Kids"?

"Show Biz Kids" has the 'F' word in it, but the 45 version
is easy to recreate taking that section out.

Can anyone assist me by providing a pitch increase percentage and the fade start/end times, please?

Thanks.
