Ed, if I'm not mistaken, the song actually features a verse by Mystikal and is produced by Master P. I don't think Master P rapped on it, though. Frankly, I was never a fan of any of the No Limit/Master P releases, but they had a huge following during my college years.

The Hot 100 listed this song as "It Ain't My Fault 1 & 2". "It Ain't My Fault" appeared on the Charge It 2 Da Game album and "It Ain't My Fault 2" appeared on the Made Mann album.
I have a US promo CD for "It Ain't My Fault 2" (No Limit DPRO 81152), credited to 'Silkk The Shocker featuring Mystikal".
1. Radio Version 3:26
2. Instrumental Version 3:26.
Based on the catalogue number of Ed's promo CD, I suspect that his promo CD is for "It Ain't My Fault" (a/k/a "It Ain't My Fault 1").
The Hot 100 indicated that both a cassette single and a CD-single were commercially released, but I have never seen either. Can anyone who has either the cassette or CD-single share which versions are featured?

I believe there are two reasons "It Ain't My Fault" charted as high as it did on the Hot 100. First, my Whitburn book indicates that Billboard combined the airplay points for both "It Ain't My Fault 1" and "It Ain't My Fault 2." The other reason is because "It Ain't My Fault 2" was included as the B-side of "Somebody Like Me."
Paul, the fact that it was a B-side is probably why you've never seen it as a cassette or CD single by itself.

Thanks for the additional info, Aaron.
Here's a synopsis of the somewhat confusing history of this song, as well as I've been able to piece it together: "It Ain't My Fault 1" (which on every release I've ever seen is simply titled "It Ain't My Fault") first appeared in February 1998 on the Charge It 2 Da Game album. The song was issued on the promo CD that Ed mentions above, but a commercial single was not issued. At the time, songs not issued as a commercial single were not yet eligible to chart on the Hot 100 or the Hot R&B chart, and R&B airplay was not yet included in tabulating the Hot 100. The song received enough airplay to debut on the R&B Airplay chart On June 27, 1998, eventually peaking at #20.
Almost a year after the first release of "It Ain't My Fault 1", the Made Mann album was released containing "It Ain't My Fault 2", which was also released on the promo CD I mention in my post above. At the time, a commercial single was not released. By then, however, airplay only songs were eligible to chart, and "It Ain't My Fault 2" debuted on the Hot R&B chart on February 6, 1999. In late February 1999, the song "Somebody Like Me" was issued as a commercial single (No Limit 53470) with the uncensored LP version of "It Ain't My Fault 2" as its B-side. Based almost entirely on the sales of No Limit 53470, the song debuted on the Hot 100 on March 6, 1999. Billboard listed it as "It Ain't My Fault 1 & 2", even though "It Ain't My Fault 1" is not on No Limit 53470 and its airplay had peaked months earlier, and "It Ain't My Fault 2" was only the B-side of 53470.
So as far as I can tell, the only version of the song that was ever released on a commercial single is the uncensored album version of "It Ain't My Fault 2" and even that was only as the B-side of "Somebody Like Me".
