It's my understanding that commercial 45 copies of Blood, Sweat & Tears' "Hi-De-Ho" were issued in stereo. However, there are two CDs in the database where the 45 version is in mono. So is this an indication there might have been some mono commercial 45 pressings? Or is this perhaps reflective of promo 45 copies containing a mono mix?

I have the mono/stereo promo copy. The only difference I hear on the mono promo side is some of David Clayton Thomas' screeching near the end of the song can barely be heard on the mono side. As if they tried to bury it. But I've never seen a MONO stock copy. It wouldn't surprise me if it was mono on some Hall of Fame re-issues. They tended to do that for some reason.

Bill, did you include a typo in your post? I think I understand the last point
you were trying to make. On numerous occasions, Columbia would issue
their Hall Of Fame 45s in mono, even though the original Columbia
commercial 45 for that same song was released in stereo! Strange. Both my
original Columbia 45 copies for "Hi-De-Ho" both state and are stereo. Did
you mean to type in, "I've never seen a mono stock copy?"

Yes, I've run never seen a MONO stock copy, I must have been typing too fast. I will correct the entry also.

I don't have either of the database CDs where the 45 version of "Hi-De-Ho" appears in mono, but I'm wondering if these discs may actually contain the mono DJ 45 mix that Bill describes?
