I have Murray Head's "Superstar" on one CD, Super Hits of the '70s, Vol. 5 (Rhino 70925), and I've never been particularly impressed with the song's sound quality on this disc. To me, it almost sounds like it was mastered from a worn out tape or perhaps a second or third generation copy. Has anyone come across a CD where the hit version of "Superstar" sounds better sonically?

Apparently, Decca in the U.S. had bad tape copies to work
with in 1971. I have two copies of this 45 and it doesn't
sound much better. Part of the problem is with the mix.

Has anyone checked the audio quality of some of the other
listings in the database?
