My commercial 45, confirmed as London 909, with handwritten deadwax
info of "XDR-43220 A" has a listed of (3:16), but an actual time of (3:08).
This info now brings the song's timing to within a second or two of the lone
current db entry that specifies "45 mix".

My (styrene) promo copy agrees with your stock, same
deadwax info. I read somewhere that there was a second
version of this single with a different mix, and was in
stereo. Has anyone ever come across one of these?

Doing a comparison between the stereo and mono versions, this is not merely a mix difference. The mono version on the 2002 Singles Collection CD has a completely different vocal take. The comment should probably be changed to "45 version" and "LP version" for each CD.

One other observation: The Singles Collection remastered CD sounds like it could be a 45 dub. The sound quality of the song is a bit fuzzy sounding, even though I don't detect any clicks/pops or turntable rumble. Interestingly, the song runs two seconds short of Jim's 45 timing, and it doesn't fade to tape hiss, which is another reason I suspect it's from vinyl. This is inconsistent with other tracks on the CD, which do fade out to tape hiss before finally fading down.

Thanks, purchased a download and it is indeed mono. The database indicates stereo for the 45 version.
