John, in addition to the Epic 11078 studio 45 issue, released in 2/74, I
wanted to add here that "Ridin' The Storm Out" was also re-issued as a 45
(as Epic 50367) in mid-77, from the live album "You Get What You Play
For". My mono/stereo promo 45 of the latter release has listed times on
both sides as (2:54), but the actual mono side time is (3:03) and the
actual stereo side time is (3:04).
Unlike the studio 45, the live 45v did manage to at least eke onto the Hot
100, at #94. Over the years, I've heard both versions on AOR radio,
although I have no strong personal recollections as to whether one
version emerged as the "definitive AOR version" or not. I'd imagine both
versions are still remembered/preferred by different listeners, depending
if they were listening to AOR radio more during '74 or '77.
