I was surprised and delighted to find that the DJ only mono 45 single edit of "Me And Bobby McGee" is available on Janis Joplin's 2 CD "The Pearl Sessions".
I've tried to recreate this same edit (released on the stereo stock 45 rpm single) from the stereo album version with no luck. It sounds like the edit was a dedicated mix (at least on the mono version). The 3:28 point is where the edit occurs, but when I edit out the next 19 seconds, the organ will overlap where the guitar should be heard.
Has anyone duplicated the stereo single edit with any luck?

The mono promo is a dedicated mono mix. Do remember that Columbia Records was a union shop, and mono not a fold down as general policy. Can't be duplicated from the Stereo as it is unique.

According to Aaron in the other Bobby McGee thread,
"Using the version on Essential, you'll edit out
3:28.510 to 3:47.719. The edit point is right before the
snare beat on the 4th count in the measure."
