I know there are posts about Billy Joel's Piano Man
and the different edits we heard on radio.
But this one is a little different because this video
is the short FM/radio edit from 1974, that I have not
heard since those long forgotten Top 40 days.
This edit was released to AM &FM Top 40 back in 1974,
to get in under the 3:30 music length some stations
still had in effect. I remember this version being the
one I heard on every Top 40 in Houston and was
surprised when I brought the 45 in store that it was
not the same!
I soon after got hold of this edit, and was the one I
played often after that.
This edit is not on any CD anywhere worldwide on
Joel's releases and considering he did not care for
the Columbia edits of his singles (although they made
him rich!) So thought those hear would enjoy it!
My first thought the poster has the promo and edited
from a CD to the right length because it sounds pretty
clean and considering the styrene Columbia was
pressing singles with in 1974 have to figure this edit
was recreated. But still well done!

That's definitely the 3:17 DJ Reservice 45 edit from 1974.

Was the DJ edit edited from the single mix/edit and not the album version? I would guess so. It also means that whoever made this 3:17 edited video, if it's from CD, must have taken it from the one CD worldwide that contains the single mix.
