In the CD age, I only have ever encountered the album
mix of this, the follow-up to "Achy Breaky Heart". It's
too bad that it didn't get any higher than 72 on the
Billboard Hot 100, as its definitely a better song than
"Achy Breaky Heart". Very Mellencamp and Springsteen-
like.
When the song was new, I had the US cassingle which had
a mix listed as "radio remix" and the album track "I'm
So Miserable" on the B-Side.
I am curious to know if this "radio remix" was, in
fact, an actual remix and if it has ever appeared on
CD? The CD singles I have seen online do not have any
notation of being a remix.

I've never heard the song, but Discogs does show a
commercial CD Single with the "Radio Remix" as the lead-
off track, so it's available at least on there. There was
also a promo with an "AC Mix", but I don't know if it's
any different from the Radio Remix or Album Versions.

Thanks for the info!
Apart from the steel guitar that pops in and out of the
track, it's not too much of a country song. More in line
with the Americana of Springsteen, Bob Seger, and John
Cougar Mellencamp. Of course, many people were already
dismissing Billy Ray Cyrus as a one-note novelty and this
was only his second single. As I said it's unfortunate as
he had a few really decent songs that should have had
more crossover success.

This was a wonderful single—I worked country radio at the time and loved playing it. It still sounds great to my ears.

Can anyone confirm if the "AC Mix" is different than the
"Radio Re-Mix"?

I'm sure I have the promo with the AC Mix, and I'll post the details later today, unless someone beats me to it.

That entire "Some Gave All" album was solid and it
spawned, I believe, at least five radio singles that
all did well in the country charts.
Sadly, on the follow-up, they forced him to record
"Achy Breaky Heart" sound-a-likes written by the same
writer (Don Von Tress, whom would eventually join Billy
Ray's backing band). This practice brought down the
quality of the overall album. However the singles off
that second album that did do well, namely "Words By
Heart" and "Heart of A Woman", are among the best songs
of his entire career.
My favorite Cyrus tune is the title track of his 3rd
album, "Storm In The Heartland".
