The U.S. promo CD single (Geffen GEFR-12290-2) for
"Just Fine" by Mary J. Blige contains the following
tracks:

1. Radio Edit 3:58
2. Main 4:18
3. Instrumental 4:18

The listed times are accurate to within a second or
two.

"Just Fine" was an advance single from the Growing
Pains
album. The single was commercially released
in the U.S. in two formats: The stand alone digital
single was identical to the 4:18 'Main' version from
the promo CD. The 12-inch vinyl single contained
vocal, instrumental and 'acapella' versions of the
'Main' version. The version that was eventually issued
on the Growing Pains album featured an
instrumental intro not found on any version on the
promo CD. As the database states, the LP version runs
only 4:02 and segues into the next track.

As was not uncommon at the time, the digital single
was deleted shortly after the album was released, even
though it differed from (and was significantly longer
than) the album version. As far as I can determine,
the commercial single version has not been made
available since.

"You remind me" from the Strictly business soundtrack
was also shortened for her debut, "What's the 411".
Glad I held on to the soundtrack!

I don't know why labels delete singles especially when
they are unique versions. I never understood the segue
on an album and I'm a believer that no album is greater
than the sum of its parts.
