Can anyone on the board confirm the existence of a promo CD for this #2 Dance Hit (but apparent Hot 100 non-charter) from 1988, apart from the 6-track
sampler that also features tracks Robert Plant and Debbie Gibson? (Full title of song is "Are You Lookin' For Somebody Nu?") I have an MP3 version in my
library that seems to be the 45 version in CD quality, but for the life of me, I can't seem to validate what CD it came from even after years of
searching.
The version I am referring to runs to about 3:17.6 (not counting silence) with a little hiss and no vinyl noise that I can detect on the fade. It does
not seem to be the exact same mix as either the album version or the Bruce Forest mixes available on the 6-track promo I referenced above. So if anyone
does have details on a promo for this one, they would be greatly appreciated. Would love to upgrade, as I love this song, but I never can seem to find
the disc.

If it's not the same as what's on that 6-Track promo, it must be a really good, clean 45 dub. The only other CD that Discogs has the song on besides the parent
album is a VA compilation titled "Soulbeat 4", with a version of it running over 9 minutes.
Speaking of the parent album, "Told U So", I remember buying that CD in the cut-out bins in the late 90's. It was still in its original longbox. I know I still
have the CD, not sure if I still have the longbox.

By the way, the 45 version is labelled as "Edit", so I assume that means an edit of the LP Version. It also says "Mixed by Bruce Forest and Frank Heller"
and has a listed running time of 3:15. The 6-track promo also labels the version as "Edit", but with a running time of 4:01 and a Remix credit given only
to Bruce Forest.

Thanks for the additional feedback, Dan! As far as version notes go,
the "Edit" doesn't sound to me to be the exact same mix as the album
version. The edit version runs at a notably faster tempo, and I think
there are some elements on the intro that aren't in the album version.
Maybe they are both "edits" of a longer master mix, with the single also
being sped up (?).
Told U So is a fantastic and underrated album! "Should I Say
Yes?" would probably make my Top 100 tracks of the '80s, esp. the
Mantronix remix.
(Sorry for any weird formatting. Updating from my phone which doesn't
always play nice with the board!)
