I'm needing someone who has the original vinyl from 1981 to help me determine which of two files I have is the REAL 1981 12" / Night Version of Girls On Film. If we can figure out the source of the other file, all the better.
Both mixes are very similar, but in the opening one of them had the "camera shutter" sound effects and the other does not.
The one without camera sounds only has 3.5 seconds of drum machine before the bass comes in, while the camera sfx start over the drum pattern that goes 8 seconds and the sfx continue into the rest of the band coming in.
The track without camera sfx plays 2.5% faster than the track with.
Not long after the band kicks in, they play basically the same mix. with the track with the sfx playing maybe five seconds longer.
No question they are separate tracks; what I don't know is which one is actually the version that was released in 1981... or where the other mix originated.
I look forward to any help you can offer!!

Gene - The no-camera-sounds version is included on the CD https://www.discogs.com/release/8579303-Duran-Duran-Essentia l-Duran-Duran-Night-Versions, for what it's worth.
I don't have the vinyl 12" or any other digital versions of the 12".

The Singles Box has the version with the opening drum machine (no camera sfx). The UK 12" has the same version, based on a dub I have of the 12" single.

The 1981 12" has the standard Night Version with no camera sounds.
The one with the camera sounds was called Night Version when it was first released on European editions of the Carnival 12" EP in 1982.
It was called the Extended Night Version when released on the 2xCD edition of Duran Duran (the 1st album) in 2010.

Ron, Aaron, MJB, thank you all!
Sounds like the camera sfx version was released in the 80s but in Europe, while in the USA clubs in 1981 they would have been playing the one without the sfx.
I really appreciate the help in sorting this one out!
