Looking into the correct running time of Betty Lou Got A
New Pair of Shoes by Bobby Freeman. 45 shows a run time of
2:15 and CDs range from 2:16 to 2:26. The sources I have
seem to differ as to where they are faded. Does anyone
have the 45 to verify true run time, as well as final words
on the fade?

The various stereo mixes don't all sound the same either...subtle differences.
Likely having been mixed to stereo in the CD era...

Thanks Ed. Can you tell me which words your 45 fades out
on?

Like Ed's, my copy also states 2:20 but runs 2:22. Or at least the music does. The song has what sounds like Western Recorders' indented pot abrupt step-downs in volume as it fades. The final words are "Ah, kick it, kid!", followed by one guitar strum. That takes it to 2:21.

Following the abrupt dump of the song, there are two faint tones. If you include those, the total run time is 2:22. If not, then 2:21 it is.

Thanks John. The final words are actually "Ah, dig them
kicks" keeping in line with the shoe theme!

As they say: "Upon further review..." ;) You are correct, sir! It was kind of hard to tell on the vinyl 45, since that's where those abrupt step-downs (yet another shoe reference, perhaps?) were getting in the way.
