A question about this 1971 hit which fell short of the Top 40 but was a big hit in some Northern areas. The version I have on the CD Paul Anka-Vegas Style (Taragon 1072) lists the running time as 3:10 and indicates "single version." Can anyone tell me if the version on the 1971 album, Paul Anka (Buddah 5093) is the same recording as the single version and if so, what the running time is? Thanks!

Mike: You're right; it was a #1 single in New Haven, CT - they played it CONSTANTLY here in '71. I know the song well, and have only ever heard one version. The listed time on the stock/promo 45 is (3:06) - I have both - just timed the promo - actual time (3:08). I have it on a released-in-1988 Buddah/Pair CD (PCD-2-1204), titled "The Best Of Paul Anka", containing his Buddah 71-72 recordings. On it, the version of "Do I Love You" has a stated and actual time of (3:09). I have neither the Taragon CD nor the 1971 LP you speak of, because I'm "all set" on the song. But I can say with 95% confidence that both of those pieces would fall into the 3:08-3:10 zone. I think Taragon may have felt the need to add "single version" to that song on the CD, because the title "Vegas Style" makes people think it could be a "live performance" release. They were probably implying "Studio version." Good luck.
