Ed did a nice job detailing promo CD single information for Meat Loaf's "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" in another thread. It appears promo CD single releases for all of Meat Loaf's '90s hits contain a number of different edits. I recently documented (or I should say, reiterated) all versions issued on the "I'd Lie for You (and That's the Truth)" promo CD single in the "'DJ edit' additions..." thread (though they haven't yet been incorporated into the database).
It looks like the only Meat Loaf promo CD single from the '90s that hasn't been covered here is "Objects in the Rearview Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are". Anyone have it who would care to enlighten us with the track listing and run times? :-)

Pat:
The back of the outer plastic slip sleeve that packages the Bat out of Hell II (Deluxe Edition) CD indicates that the version of "Objects in the Rear View Mirror..." running 5:51 is the "Wild Bomb" mix, and the version running 7:37 is the "Wild Car" mix. As Jim has noted, both of these mixes are on the DJ CD single. Currently, these versions are both listed in the database as: (remix).

i just a/b the cassingle versus the import cd single which has the first track as an "edit" version running 5:54 and the two are identical.....the cassingle does not state a version......the cassingles (the official single release) run time should be noted in the db....i don't have the promo cd single to compare the other tracks on it, but looking at the run times the official single verion may be there as the "wild bomb" version

There's a 9:41 version on The Very Best of Meat Loaf. How does this differ from the LP version?

Two cuts in the Very Best version:
-Remove four bars of the chorus, from 8:14 to 8:29, at the downbeats, on the word "Objects"
-Remove four bars of the chorus, from 9:08 to 9:23, again on the downbeats.
Otherwise, the tracks seem to line up almost perfectly.

I can add that the commercial 45 (MCA 54848) is listed 5:54 and runs about the same, with a relatively abrupt fade. I see it's about the same time as the "Wild Bomb" version but like Ed, I don't have that version to compare.

I don't have the "deluxe" CD, but I compared an iTunes download from it that iTunes calls the "AC Edit 2 aka Wild Bomb AC" with my U.S. commercial 45, and one difference I noticed immediately is that the channels appear to be reversed; for example, the guitar that is briefly heard at about 2:00 is in the right channel on my 45 but in the left channel on the CD. But a more significant difference is that the instrumental break beginning at about 4:07 features a guitar solo on my 45 but some type of synthesizer/keyboard on the "AC Edit 2 aka Wild Bomb AC".
The question remains whether this "Wild Bomb AC" version and the "Wild Bomb" version from the promo CD are the same. If the latter also has the guitar at 2:00 in the left channel and a keyboard solo at 4:07 instead of a guitar solo, then it is not the commercial single version.

Just last week, I acquired an additional promo CD single for "Objects." Here are the details:
MCA5P-3025
1. AC Radio Edit (listed & actual 4:56)
2. AC Edit 2 (listed & actual 5:51)
3. AC Edit 3 (listed & actual 7:38)
4. Full AC Version (listed 10:15; actual 10:16)
Finally, five years after Paul's question, I can confidently say that the "Wild Bomb" version from the first promo CD that Jim lists above is NOT the same as the "AC Edit 2." It appears that the AC promo has the same length edits as the regular promo, but obviously the edits are of the AC version.

So if I'm reading this correctly, the true 45/Cassette Single version running around 5:54 and labelled as "(Edit)" has never been issued on CD in the US, either on Commercial or Promo CD copies, also not on the "Bat Out Of Hell 2 Deluxe Edition" and is only available on import CD Singles?

Track 2 on MCA5P-3016, labeled "Wild Bomb," runs 5:53. I have a dub of the vinyl 45 (presumably the US 45), and the "Wild Bomb" version exactly matches the vinyl 45. Given that the cassette single runs 5:54, I'd say it's safe to assume that the "Wild Bomb" version also matches the cassette single version, but I don't have a dub of the cassette single to confirm with 100% certainty.
