Ed:
Just want to make sure... Is the "7" Sunshine Edit" on the cassette single identical to the version on K.W.S.'s Please Don't Go (The Album) CD (Next Plateau 828368)? Both have the same run time.

Not really adding anything here, but I just wanted to say that I find it kind of amusing that many times these edits were called "7-inch edit", when in many cases there was no 7-inch single available for the song!

good point.....it's even funnier, when the cassingle states the version as the 7 inch edit, and then you compare that to the actual 45 and that version is different.....these record company people are really messed up....

Discogs lists a shorter version on a US Promo CD single.
Next Plateau Records Inc. – NPCD50187 RE-1
1 Please Don't Go (7'' Sunshine Edit) 3:35
Was a shorter edit serviced to radio besides the common 4:15 single version?

I've had that CD in my want list for a few years, and none have come up for sale. There is an import CD single that has a version called 77 Sunhine Edit (printed time 3:38), so it's possible the "RE-1" issue of this promo CD matches. I don't have the import disc, though. I've also heard a YouTube video with a 3:45ish edit that ends cold instead of fading out. There seem to be lots of different edits for this one!

So is there a difference between this CD single you can't find and the one that is commonly available for the song? Or are you just collecting the promo CD and want it for that reason?

The run time of track 1 is different between the two discs, but I don't know if that's a typo or if there really is a difference.

As I was going through some Hitmakers CDs, I came across a Top 40 Edit of "Please Don't Go" with a run time of 3:35. Presumably, this matches the RE-1 promo CD single.
The Top 40 Edit on this disc has obvious noise reduction (sounds like improperly applied Dolby NR). It runs 2.2% faster than the 4:15 version. There is a segment in the intro that I presume is from the full/long version, as it is not found in the 4:15 edit.
