pat
you might want to make a note in the db.....the cassingle edits out the 0:06 of spoken intro at the outset of the song....the cassingle runs 4:10 and is identical to the full cd/lp version except for that 0:06 spoken intro......

I just noticed in the database that the title of the aforementioned Young M.C. song is shown as "Principal". The song title should actually be amended to read "Principal's Office", shouldn't it?

Thanks for bumping it back up, Ed. Does the promo CD cut the intro, too?

Aaron, although we always cued past it on the air back in 1990, my one-track promo CD single does include the brief intro, and here are the brief particulars:
-Young M.C.-"Principal's Office" (PR-3068-2)
1-(non-described version) (listed & actual 4:14)

FYI
The U.S. commercial vinyl 45 runs (4:09), the listed time is "4:08" on the vinyl record label (Delicious Vinyl / ISLAND 7-99137)
The 45 starts at the sound of an alarm clock, and edits out the opening :05.5 spoken on the LP version. Therefore, it seems that the 45 is the same version as the commercial cassette single.

Just today, I obtained a compilation CD that is not in the database, and it includes the 45 version of "Principal's Office" by Young MC. The disc is U Rap 2 It on K-Tel, which has six songs in both a vocal and instrumental version. Here are the tracks and actual run times of the top 40 hits contained on the disc:
K-Tel 60002
3. It Takes Two (4:58)
4. It Takes Two (instrumental) (4:59)
5. Pump Up The Jam (neither LP nor 45 version) (5:02)*
6. Pump Up The Jam (neither LP nor 45 version) (4:56)**
11. Principal's Office (45 version) (4:09)
12. Principal's Office (instrumental) (4:02)
*This is the "Original Mix" from the stock & promo CD single.
**This is similar to the "Original Mix" but does not have the chorus. It might be the "Jam Mix Edit" but I haven't verified it with the CD single.
