My Billboard Pop Annual states the 45 ran 2:00, yet my version runs 2:21 and contains train sounds at the bg and end. If you remove the train sounds, it times to about 2:00. Does anyone know if the 45 actually contained or removed the sounds, or is my Pop Annual incorrect, or is the 45 timing incorrect? I know...1956 and all!

David: My 1956 RCA 45 has a listed time of 2:00, but an actual time of (2:21), and contains approx. :07/:08 of train whistle at the start (a noticable splice is then heard), and, as you point out, an even longer segment of train whistles are found at the end of it. The Pop Annual uses the listed time, not the actual time, in error. For goodness sakes, David , don't leave the trains behind - two of my best friends in the world work for the railroad! :)

The train whistle part sounds to me like it was dubbed from a sound effects record....dont remember the listed time on my 45 but it did play out to 2:20 or so.
