The only CD on which Eddie Kendricks' 'Son of Sagittarius' appears is the 20th Century Masters CD on which it runs 3:37. My 45 runs 3:16 and is an early fade of the 20th Century Masters version. I don't know what the LP length of this song is.

I can confirm Paul C's findings. My commercial 45 has a listed 45 time of (3:12), but an actual time of (3:16).

The actual LP running time is (3:36) not (3:41) as stated on the record label.

I have "Son of Sagitarius" on the 20th Century Masters CD and was looking to create an early fade to match the 45 length using my digital editing software. However, the vinyl 45 and CD are clearly different mixes. For instance, the song's intro contains cymbal taps on the CD, but drum brushes are instead heard on the 45. Then on the CD at the :09 mark, a keyboard riff begins fading in and gradually builds to a crescendo prior to Eddie Kendrick's opening vocals. This keyboard riff is not heard at all on the 45. There are other differences as well, but I've given the ones that can be most quickly identified in the song. That said, it looks like the "LP length" comment in the database for the 20th Century Masters CD may need to be changed to "LP version".

Does anyone know if the Hip-O Select label is planning to carry out their Complete Motown Singles box set series to eventually include Motown's 1974 singles? That might be our best shot at getting the 45 version of "Son of Sagittarius".
