Both my commercial and promo 45s state a listed time of (3:46), but both have an actual time of (3:42).

Thanks to "Detective Aaron K", I have a little new light to shed on this one. Although currently not on a domestic CD, Aaron owns this on an Ace UK import CD, which features the song in mono. I own this on a Westbound UK import "2 LPs-on-1 CD" collection, which features the song in stereo. Aaron points out a missing tambourine at the :04-:05 mark of his mono CD mix, which DOES appear on my stereo CD mix. I quickly pulled out both my stock and promo 45s to compare. Although my stock 45 says "stereo", it is in fact mono (and yes, I made sure my loose headphone wires were not faulty here!) It's DEFINITELY mono, with NO tambourine at :04. Then I played my promo 45 (which, FYI, makes no "stereo" claim), and it is also mono, and also omits the :04 tambourine. Conclusion: although Pat doesn't include import CD info in the database, for us sticklers in the audience, it appears that stereo CDs feature the "LP mix", that the original US 45 mix exists only in mono, and can be found on CD that way on Aaron's Ace UK CD. Aaron, perhaps you could provide us with a CD stock # for that import Ace CD of yours, for those who may wanna try and track it down on the Net. EXCELLENT work, my friend!

And I'm happy to discover this CD is still in print! The full disc title is: Super Breaks: Essential Funk, Soul, & Jazz Samples and Breakbeats.

Nice work, gentlemen!

And I do hear a tambourine at :04. Stereo 45 mix, perhaps?

It's been 36 years since I first heard the song, and I was only remotely familiar with the title after surfing some 1972 surveys at ARSA.
