In 1994, the B-52's reached the Top 40 with the novelty hit "(Meet) the Flintstones", which the group recorded for The Flintstones movie soundtrack under the moniker: B.C.-52's. I came across a webpage claiming the commercial vinyl 45, cassette single, and promo CD single all contain the following:
1) (Meet) The Flintstones [fred's edit] - 2:24 (the webpage indicates this is the LP version)
2) (Meet) The Flintstones [barney's edit] - 2:28
Can anyone confirm that 1) The "fred's edit" is indeed the same as the LP version, and 2) the accuracy of the above run times? Also, does anyone recall hearing the "barney's edit" on their local Top 40 radio station? I was going to school in Tacoma, Washington when this song hit the charts and I think I maybe heard it one time in my area!

Todd, I can't comment about whether "Fred's Edit" is the LP version or not. Also, we never "added" the song at our station, and I honestly don't recall which version I heard in my 1994 travels. But I did pull out and time my promo CD single for you. "Fred's Edit" actually runs (2:23), and "Barney's Edit" actually runs (2:26).

"Fred's Edit" is the same as what's on the soundtrack.

Thanks, Jim and Paul! And according to my source, commercial copies of "(Meet) the Flintstones" contain the same tracks and times as the aforementioned promo CD single.

my commercial cassingle issued as mca 54839 does not state the version on the A-side but it is identical to the full length cd/lp version from the soundtrack which is the "fred's edit" even though the cassingle states "original version appears on "the flintstones: music from bedrock"....the B-side of the cassingle contains the "barney's edit".....this cassingle info s/b added to the db...
