What is the actual commercial 45 run time of Andy Gibb's "An Everlasting Love"? The 10th edition shows the song running 4:06 on a couple of CDs and each is noted with the comment: (LP length). Meanwhile, the 45 shows a printed run time of 4:06 on the record label. I don't have a copy of the 45, but I can only assume it doesn't actually run 4:06. Otherwise the "LP length" comments listed in the 10th edition would have to be incorrect.

Well when I picked up my dj copy, the label stated 3:44 and I timed it and it really ran 3:45. I then reread your post which said the commercial 45 stated a time of 4:06 and I scratched my head, turned the dj copy over and lo and behold the flip side stated a time of 4:06 and ran 4:06. If you are wondering, the 3:45 version is just an early fade of the 4:06 45 and LP length. I will correct my LP length comment and add a comment about the dj 45 having two lengths.

Thanks for clearing this up, Pat. By the way, I've come across a promo 45 listing of "An Everlasting Love" on eBay with a catalog number of RSO RS 904. It's reported to have mono on one side and stereo on the other? Does your DJ copy reflect this, Pat?

Yes, the short version is in mono and the long version is in stereo.

Would the fade on the DJ mono
side start at the 3:30 mark?

The fadeout on the mono DJ 45 resembles the head of a swordfish. It begins at 3:30 and dumps out quite abruptly at 3:44.2, with a "whoomp" sound that shows as a spike, followed by nothing.

That's what it took to flush you out of Lurkdom? ;) Welcome aboard!
Yes, I could have said "exponential fade," but those come in a variety of flavors. And where's the sizzle in that name? A term like "swordfish head fade" sells, while "exponential fade" just sits there gathering dust on the shelf, then is savagely drilled, sawn or otherwise defaced prior to being unceremoniously consigned to the cutout bin. More importantly, "swordfish head fade" immediately gets the point across by producing a striking mental image of what the fade looks like. That alone should be enough to make Barnes & Barnes proud!
Now, "marlin head fade" would have meant roughly the same thing, but that might've muddied the waters by conjuring up images of the T.K. family's Marlin record label. Plus the swordfish head fade is different from your standard bluefin tuna fade, gar fade, sawfish fade or the bottom-feeder bullhead/catfish fade.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to investigate the tail fin of "Main Title (Theme From Jaws)." ;)

The promo 45 fades from 3:29 to 3:44.
That's not funny in the least, and is redundant with the earlier posts, but I wanted to contribute to the thread somehow.
