milli vanilli "blame it on the rain"
the song on the 45 is very slightly truncated at the beginning while the cassingle version has a smooth intro....neither version is available commercially on cd....but i have the promo cd single which contains the proper smooth intro and the 45 version can be easily replicated by starting the song a few milliseconds later....the 45 lists a run time of 4:08 and it does indeed run that length.....

My stock 45 on this arrived today. Listed and actual time is 4:08.
I've also come across a version of this song on a CD single labeled 'radio version' that ends with a cold vocal, whereas the stock 45 I purchased fades out.
Anyone know about this other version?

My promo CD single (ASCD-9904) has the following:
1-Album Version (listed 4:19; actual 4:17)
2-Single Remix (listed 4:06; actual 4:08)
3-Extended Remix (listed 7:18; actual 7:16)
Both cuts 1 & 2 from this promo CD single fade, and do not end cold. My promo 45 for this has the exact same listed (4:06); actual (4:08) version, on both sides, and is the same version as Cut 2 of my promo CD single.
Unfortunately, John, we never received a track specifically called "Radio Version" at our radio station in 1989, so I am unable to shed any light at all on your "cold vocal ending" mix. Is your CD single a commercial CD single? Could you share any of its timing/track listing/stock # details?

Jim, unfortunately all I have is the listed time of this 'cold ending' version at 4:08. It was available for purchase on a web site I came across. Perhaps, a European remix? I can send a copy if you'd like...

No thanks, John. I have found that many details/version descriptions that come from various on-line web sites/merchants, to be notoriously inaccurate. So much so, that I don't even bother to research them. I only use the actual, original 45/CD/CD singles, already in my possession, and for which I can then accurately determine/report on all of the exact actual details.

Agreed, Jim, that's why I picked up the stock 45 on this one to check off another on my list. :)

John, does this version have these characteristics:
At the end, there is only one instance of the chorus, then a repeated first line, "Blame It on the Rain.....oooooh (echoed a little)"?
After the rainstorm and thunder over the instrumental bridge, there also should be a group singing, "I can't, I can't, I can't...can't stand the rain (twice)"?

That's the U.K. Single Version which was used around the world except North America. It ends with... "Blame it on the rain.. oooh!". Surprisingly, "Blame It On The Rain" was first released in the U.K., instead of "Girl I'm
Gonna Miss You" (which was released after "Blame It..." in the U.K.).
The U.S. Video Version is a combination of both the U.K. and U.S. Single Versions and ends with a cold ending. The U.S. Video Version is the best mix.
