Question for Pat - in the database you refer to the "single version" and "album version" of this Lobo song -- where the album version contains an Intro (Country Feelings) followed by "Me And You".
Since the LP (presumably) lists the songs separately, one as Intro and one as "Me and You and a Dog...", is there really such a thing as an album version and a single version for "Me and You ..."?
It seems to me there exists one version of the song. And on the LP, the song is preceded by a song called Intro and followed by Song 3. Even if they label it as:
Intro/Me and You and a Dog
as opposed to:
Intro
Me And You and a Dog
that still would seem to be two separate songs with two different titles. There isn't even a fade-in/fade-out or blend or bleedover going from one song to the next. Musically, one ends and the next begins immediately afterward.
So this also makes me wonder -- Are there any other differences between what's called "Me And You and a Dog" on the LP and what it is on the 45, like mix differences?

My vinyl LP states Intro :53 and then track 1 which is Me And You And a Dog Named Boo 2:57 so the record company is indicating to me that both tracks are track 1. This can be argued until the cows come home as to whether the intro is really part of Me And You And A Dog Named Boo and you may be able to edit the intro from Me And You And A Dog Named Boo but there is only about .05 seconds between the two and if Big Tree Records really meant for both of them to be different tracks there would be more than a .05 second time interval and they would have assigned a track number to the intro. Again this is arguable and my call is that the LP version includes "intro" as part of the song.

All CD appearances of "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" with a "45 version" comment run anywhere from 3:49-3:56. For the benefit of those interested in obtaining as close to the exact 45 length as possible, can anyone confirm the actual 45 run time?

Todd, I know you meant to say that all CD appearances of the "45 version" run anywhere between 2:49-2:56, not 3:49-3:56. Anyhow, my commercial 45, which is mono, has a listed time of (2:52), and an actual time of (2:50). Since Pat's minimum reportable listed/actual time difference is :03 seconds, I did not report these findings previously.

Ah, but maybe this means Pat should list an "LP length" and "45 length" for this song. On Lobo's "It Sure Took a Long Long Time" I pointed out a 6 second difference between LP and 45 lengths, which then went in the database. If your 45 is 2:50, and some CD appearances are 2:56, maybe this is another Lobo example where the 45 was shortened by 6 seconds?

Thanks as always for coming through in the "clutch" with your valuable 45 run time info, Jim! I've noticed in instances like this where a wide range of run times exist for a song on compact disc and there are no significant listed/actual 45 or LP time discrepencies to report, Pat will sometimes post a general comment such as (actual 45 run time is (x:xx)) and/or (actual LP run time is (x:xx)) to assist those of us striving to capture historically accurate 45 and LP run times on CD. And I'm always heartened to see I'm not the only "preservationist" on this forum who finds such info useful. ;-)

Just wanted to bump up this thread in case Jim's 45 run time info was overlooked for inclusion in the database. To summarize, the actual commercial 45 run time of Lobo's "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" is 2:50. Database CDs containing a "45 version" comment run from 2:49-2:56.
