Been searching for awhile for this elusive promo 45 edit from 1974 of Band On The Run. Have discovered through a search that the 3:50 edit is mono. Those of you who may have the promo in your possession:
1) Is the mono edit at 3:50 the same 'mix' as the 5:09 version?
2) If the mix is the same, can someone do a rundown of when, timewise, the edits occur so the longer version can edited?

The edited version on the promo single is in mono, so it's hard to tell for sure that it's not a dedicated mix. But I don't hear any new elements or variations in levels, so you're probably safe just folding down the stereo.
The first edit is at ~0:25. There's four bars of the intro, then right into "Stuck inside these four walls..." In other words, the two bars of Dmaj7-Gm are skipped.
The second and more significant edit happens at ~2:40. After the first verse of the third section ("Well the rain exploded..."), there are four repeats of the "band on the run..." chorus that I think come after the second verse in that section. It then skips the "Well the undertaker..." verse and the slide guitar solo and goes straight into the "Well the night was falling..." verse.
Hope that helps. It's a slightly more graceful edit than the promo "Jet," anyway.
