Since there's no info listed in the database, here's the details on my promo CD single:

DPRO-12773
1. LP Version (4:26)
2. CJ R&B 7" Mix (4:10)
3. CJ R&B 12" Mix (6:16)
4. CJ FXTC Instrumental (6:14)
5. Macapella (6:22)

All times are both listed and actual times. Does anyone remember hearing the CJ R&B 7" Mix on the air when it was a hit? This is the version that starts with the "like a moth..." vocal acapella and has a slightly different backing track.

I seem to recall hearing the CJ R&B 7" on occasion.

Glad you mentioned TTWLG. There appears to be a promo CD that contains an AC Edit and I was wondering if anyone here had any further details.

There's also a 3-track promo that has hip-hop remixes by Hank Shocklee.

Underground Dub, we never received an "AC Edit" promo to our Top 40 station in 1993. But we did get in the "Remixes by Hank Shocklee, Keith Shocklee And The Bomb Squad" promo CD single that Aaron has just referred to, and here are those details:

Janet Jackson-"That's The Way Love Goes - The Shocklee Remixes" (DPRO-12783)
1-That's The Remix (We Aimsta Win) #1 (listed 5:42; actual 5:40)
2-That's The Remix (We Aimsta Win) #2 (listed 5:14; actual 5:13)
3-That's The Remix (We Aimsta Win) Instrumental (listed 5:43; actual 5:39)

Since Ed's commercial single timing info for Janet Jackson's "That's the Way Love Goes" hasn't yet been incorporated into the database, I thought I'd bump it back up for consideration.

The A/C Edit appears on TM Century's GoldDisc 948N. Was
this edit on an official promo or was it something done in-
house by TM Century?

I just answered my own question. The A/C edit was serviced on a 1-track Promo (DPRO-12795) Listed (4:18)

I do not own a copy, so I can't confirm edit points or actual time.

Something I've always wondered about this single. On my commercial maxi-single for the song, if you turn the volume waaaay up, you can hear the tail end of the album intro for just a fraction of a second. Was it this way on the US two-track cassingle and/or 7" single, or is the intro completely clean?

I hear the intro completely clean on my cassingle (4KM-12650), listed and actual (4:25) LP version. The other track is the instrumental version (not sure if it appears anywhere else). The cassingle also repeats both tracks on each side.

Here are a few additional details on DPRO-12795:

1. A/C Edit (listed 4:18; actual 4:19)

This is the same mix as the LP version; however, it removes the first few spoken lines over the intro ("like a moth to a flame..."). The first vocal you hear is a slowed down "that's the way" at 0:15.

There are a couple differences at toward the end, too, included a faded out ending, which sounds like they may have repeated some early choruses and then faded out.
