Pat, I own a (S), (3:32) version of this song, on a CEMA Special Markets #57603, budget-line CD called "Soul Classics, Vol. 2". I see that the Canadaian "Madacy" label also released this CD at around the same time, but my copy makes NO mention of Madacy, just CEMA, and appears to be 100% "U.S. born and bred". Think I got it in the bargain bin at Circuit City! And since my promo 45 (all I have for this song) has both a listed & actual time of (3:33), and all current CDs in the database contain the (4:30/4:31) "LP version", I thought this "45v on a U.S. CD" info might be of interest to some here on the Board.

Jim, I just obtained a copy of the "Soul Classics Vol. 2" cd and it does indeed include a (3:32) version of "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" but when I A/B it with the full length (4:30) versions I do not detect any difference other than an early fade of the (4:30) version. You imply in your post that there is a distinct 45 version but I don't hear any differences so could you point out what is different other than length?

Pat, if I implied that, I didn't mean to. All I knew was that my promo 45 was a listed & actual (3:33). (FYI, I also found my stock 45 last night, and it is also a listed & actual (3:33).) I had/have NO idea whether it was a length or a version difference; I just knew the other CDs I had it on ran :57 seconds longer. I didn't intend to infer anything else there, Pat - sorry if I was unclear.
