Hi,
Does anyone out there have the promo edit of Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway's "The Closer I Get To You"?
As I recall it had some out-of-sequence edits & other anomalies that made it "impossible" for me to recreate when the song was a hit.
But, in a similar topic, both "jimct" & Bill Cahill proved I was wrong about the promo of Abba's "Take A Chance On Me" being "impossible" to recreate.
(I prefer being WRONG in situations like these...)

I don't have it, but unfortunately I think this thread confirms that you're not wrong about the out-of-sequence edits and other anomalies.
But since you brought it up, perhaps in the year and a half since that thread was created perhaps someone acquired the promo along the way (EDIT: I think Gary Mack mentioned in that thread he has the promo), or some of our newer users unaware of the thread have it.
Hey, it's worth a shot. :)

I just made a digital simulation of the promo edit.
It is not exact because I don't think it's 100% possible without the multitracks...
But it's pretty close.
If anybody would like to hear it please p.m. me.

I used to have a copy, but I lost it, but about three weeks ago I found another one in the overstock bins in the legendary record finders warehouse (3 million records in one giant warehouse!)My poor wife and kids. I was in the warehouse 5 hours last Saturday!
I will copy it to mp3 tonight and anyone who already owns a legitimate copy of this track can have a reference edit. (I'm not Limewire, but I'm sure everyone here owns the track in one form or another)
My AOL email is in the directory here.
