Does anyone know where I can find the 45 version of "King For A Day" on CD? I've seen a listing for it on the Thompson Twins "Gold & Platinum Collection" CD; however, some listings show the song as "Single Version" and some show it as "UK Mix."

Yeah, I noticed that in Pat's book. The only problem is that it's impossible to find the Time Life cd. Any others? Or, is it possible to edit the LP Version to make the 45? I don't have the LP Version either, only a dub of the 45.

Thanks, edtop40. I purchased the track on iTunes...it's the version from the "Gold & Platinum" CD I mentioned above. This also appears to be the 45 Version. I haven't A/B'd it with my dub of the 45 yet, but if it's the right version, I'll order the actual CD.

I just did the A/B, and this appears to be the 45 Version as well.

Hello friends how are you? I tell you that for some time
I have been trying to trace the origin of a version I
have of "King For A Day", with a duration of 4:17, being
different from the known version of 45.

I found the version I'm talking about on YouTube, labeled
as single edition, is this correct?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KohjXB4Pe0g

I was looking for all the compilations and CDs released
by Thomson Twins, without success, could it be the 45 UK
version?

Any members who can shed light on this? Thank you

AFAIK, that "lite" version was never released on 45. I believe it debuted on the 1990 Australian CD The Greatest Hits (DIN 145).

I'm sure this version was initially intended as the original A-side, as it's clearly the non-dub companion to "Fools in Paradise". However, Tom Bailey's harder "rock radio" edit ended up being the A-side worldwide. I guess it was ready in time, and the band decided it would make a better single, especially in the USA...and they were right!
