Does anyone have promo CD single info for this song?

There are three different versions - (3:44), (4:20) and (4:59). The longer two appear on the 45, and I have the shortest on two compilation CDs, but I'm trying to figure out where it came from.

My commercial 45 is LMR 2724-7-R, 1990:
  • A: Because I Love You (The Postman Song) (Radio Edit) printed 4:20 actual 4:20
  • B: Because I Love You (The Postman Song) printed 4:57 actual 4:59
Although the A-side has an "original version on the LP ..." credit, it's just an early fade of the LP version, which is on the B-side. (Fade the LP version from 4:00-4:20, if you want to recreate the "Radio Edit").

I have the LP version (4:59) on:
  • Body Talk - Once In A Lifetime (Time-Life R834-15, 1997)
  • Body Talk - Hearts On Fire (Time-Life R834-21, 2000; digitally identical to above CD)
  • Sounds Of The '90s - 1990 (Time-Life R814-01, 2001; sound is a little compressed)
  • Living In The 90s (Razor & Tie S22-18601, 1995; index mark is off by 0.8 seconds, so if just just to this track it sounds like 0.8 seconds of intro is cut off - bad; also sound is a little compressed)
I have the "Radio Edit" (4:20) on:
  • Now That's What I Call Music 19 (Virgin EMI PolyGram UK CD NOW 19)
  • Hearts Of Gold - The Pop Collection (Foundation CDP-96427, 1991)
There's a third, shorter version, running 3:44 on:
  • Mystic Music presents Sweet Love (Warner Special Products OPCD-3537, 1996)
  • Starland Music presents Reflections Of Love (Warner Special Products OPCD-4572, 1996)
Here are instructions for creating the 3:44 edit from the 4:57 LP version. I didn't spend too much time with this, so I may be off by a beat or two on each of the edits:

Keep 0:00.0-2:35.3 of LP version.
Edit on downbeat.
Remove the 16 beats from 2:35.3-2:50.3.
Keep the 8-1/2 beats from 2:50.3-2:58.3.
Remove the 32 beats from 2:58.3-3:28.1.
Keep the 65-1/2 beats from 3:28.1-4:29.4, with a fade from 4:10-4:29.

Note that this (3:44) edit extends about 10 seconds longer into the LP version than the (4:20) "radio edit".

So, finally, my long-winded question: Was the (3:44) version on a promo CD single?

Ron, there's only one track on my promo CD single (2724-2-RDJ), a both listed & actual (4:20), "Radio Edit". So, unless there was more than one promo CD single issued for this song, the answer to your question is no.

The 3:44 edit also appears on Only Rock 'N Roll: 1990-1994: #1 Radio Hits. I have the CD and the total time on it is 3:43, so it may be a second or two shorter than what's on the two CD's that Ron mentioned. After looking on Discogs, it appears the 3:44 was the commercial single version in at least a few countries around the world, such as France, Germany and Scandinavia.
